OFFICER I MICRO CREDIT – REF. JDT/HR – OFF-MICRO/JS-8/2026
- Position: Officer I, Micro Credit
- Grade: JS- 8
- Department: Loans
- Job Type: Contract – Three (3) Years Renewable Based on Performance
- Reporting to: Manager Loans
- Location: Nairobi
JOB PURPOSE
The job holder is responsible for outreach, promotion, client assessment, intake, supervision and monitoring of clients with the intention of gradually growing and sustaining a healthy portfolio, an optimum number of clients and client’s groups.
FUNCTIONS / KEY RESULTS EXPECTED
- a) Be responsible for the implementation of the micro – credit program and policies
b) Conduct market survey before initiating any program in a new area.
c) Conduct awareness creation and mobilization meetings.
d) Assess and select viable groups using the laid down criteria.
e) Train clients on Sacco society limited lending procedures and requirements (credit and group management).
f) Mobilization of savings among clients and ensure loan applications are properly filled.
g) Ensure loan appraisal and approval are done following set criteria and conditions.
h) Liaise with Government ministries and other line agencies in order to facilitate Jamii Sacco society limited activities in area of operations.
i) Maintenance and growth of a healthy credit portfolio through prudent loan administration, management and compliance with policies, procedures and best practice.
j) Preparation and presentation of comprehensive, timely & reliable reports to provide information, aid in decision making and gauge performance
k) Support the development and usage of microcredit services in designated areas, identified by the SACCO.
l) Ensure that the training curriculum for microcredit groups and individuals.
m) Manage the Analysis of applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
n) Explain to members the different types of loans and credit products that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
o) Approve loans within specified limits, and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval.
p) Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
q) Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants’ credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
r) Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

Leads to overall growth and sustaining a healthy portfolio, an optimum number of clients and client’s groups.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Cooperative management, Business Administration or management, or Microfinance/ Microcredit or relevant field
- Have a minimum of three (3) years working experience in a related field
